The exit is where the gateway is
A home gateway generally uses your home internet connection as the exit for traffic configured to take that route. Selecting another country name on a website does not relocate it.
Reachability comes before convenience
Router forwarding, host firewalls and the ISP’s addressing arrangement can determine whether the gateway accepts inbound packets. Carrier-grade NAT may prevent a straightforward inbound setup.
Treat availability as an operating task
Keep the host and VM running, update the operating system, manage device peers and keep a tested recovery path. A website registry record alone does none of these things.
